Avon—The entire Avon community is invited to walk through the new blue hallways of the “green” Avon Middle School North (AMSN) on Tuesday, August 11, 2009. Open House begins at 4:00 p.m. with a historic dedication at 5:00 p.m. AMSN was designed to be certified by the nationally recognized program called LEED - Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.

School Corporation Looking for Community Input

Avon—As groundwork for the Elementary Redistricting Committee, the Avon Community School Corporation (ACSC) is seeking input from the Avon community. “There are many factors that go into the redistricting decision,” says Associate Superintendent, Dr. Margaret Hoernemann. “The online survey results are a vital piece the committee will review along with demographics, facility analysis, enrollment projections and classroom utilization. What’s important to our Avon parents will be taken into consideration.”

Avon’s 7^th elementary school, River Birch Elementary, located at 5456 East 75 North, is currently under construction and will be open Fall 2010, thus the need for elementary students to be reassigned. The Elementary Redistricting Committee, consisting of Avon parents and leaders, will be presenting their recommendations to the ACSC Board late fall. Parents, students, and interested Avon residents are welcome to complete a three-question online survey between August 10- August 24. Survey questions can be found on www.avon-schools.org OR a link from any of the Avon elementary schools’ main web pages. Hard copies are also available at any of those same schools.
